Maria’s Story
2/17/2010 - For Maria, taking care of her family’s health was a top priority. She knew she needed to take care of her routine checkups, but she didn’t go in for her mammogram until she learned that MPHC was offering free mammograms through a partnerships with other local non-profits. Maria had let 3 years pass since her last mammogram and she was overdue for a screening.
Diagnostic testing revealed that she had a lump and within days her doctor confirmed that she had cancer in her left breast. A lumpectomy was performed, followed by months of radiation treatments.
We are elated to report that Maria is firmly on the road to a full recovery.
